If I pass a miserable night in this river bed, I fear that the chilling frost and the soaking dew together will overcome me, and from weakness I will have breathed forth my spirit. For the breeze from the river blows cold in early morning.

As the date is now December 12th, you can imagine that spending a night under the stars might not be a particularly welcome prospect for a naked man. He goes up into the woods, finds a clear place not too far from the water and creeps beneath two bushes. He makes up a place to sleep with leaves lying around, enough to give shelter to even two or three men in winter.
